Inktense XL Block paint - Derwent - Sun Yellow

Here's another edition of Derwent's unique Inktense ink - this time in XL-size stick form. Crayon or ink - just blur!

The unusual thing about Inktense Blocks sticks is that they can be used for very different techniques. Used "dry" they resemble greasy pastels, then you get clean and intense colors. On the other hand, when mixed with water, they turn into semi-transparent ink. The colors blend together, making it possible to obtain a myriad of colors and shades. They can be used on a wetted surface or on a dry one and then add water.

The great thing about the Inktense Blocks sticks is that once the first applied layer dries, you can apply subsequent layers without worrying about blurring. Using a "Grate'n'shake" grater, we can grind the stick, producing a fine dust that, when applied to a wetted surface, creates interesting color effects. Another option is to dissolve the dust in water and use the solution like an ink, such as with a brush marker or sprayer. The sticks are ideal for creating expansive, expressive landscapes, where they retain their intense color despite the large area on which they are blurred. The versatility of Inktense XL blocks allows them to be used on paper, canvas, ceramics, wood, fabric, as well as many other porous surfaces.
