Specially purified (rectified) turpentine oil by Schmincke for oil paints.
Rectified turpentine oil is a specific type of solvent used in oil painting. It does not contain water or resin. It dilutes oil paints, oil auxiliaries and varnishes based on white spirit.
It helps thin paints, allowing artists to achieve a variety of effects, from thin and transparent layers to denser impastos. This type of turpentine can also speed up the drying process of oil paints, which is useful for artists who want to reduce the time it takes for a painting to dry.
Rectified turpentine oil can be added to various painting media, such as painting mediums and painting primers, to adjust their consistency and properties. It is an effective cleaner for cleaning paint brushes and other tools after using oil paints.
Compared to some other solvents, rectified turpentine oil may have a milder odor, which is beneficial for artists working indoors.
Note: It is not compatible with alcohol-based varnishes. Dissolves damar and mastic resin.
