Meiji No Iro is a collection of exquisite quality inks inspired by the Meiji era.
The unique colors harkening back to the Japanese traditions of the Meiji era are designed for brushpen refills and use with brushes as well as matte nibs.
We love their thick, rich consistency that provides smooth writing and makes for surprising results when applied with a brush. They are water-based dye inks, and despite their extremely rich consistency, they are safe for all pens.
In the Meiji era, purple tint was considered a noble color reserved by aristocrats. People were afraid to use traditional purple, so the Ebicha shade replaced it. The Ebicha shade became a popular color for Hakama, or Japanese traditional pants worn by female students.
