The tips of William Mitchell nibs are coated with a protective lacquer to prevent tarnishing. Before the first use, dip the nib in boiling water to remove the varnish. After each use, wash the nib in lukewarm water and then gently dry with a paper tissue to maintain optimal performance.

The nibs have been coated with a thin layer of varnish to prevent corrosion and discoloration. To remove it, it is recommended to briefly immerse the nibs in boiling water before first use.
