Carrés Conté à Paris dry pastels are professional tools designed for versatile drawing – from quick sketches to carefully refined studies of light and shadow.
Thanks to their distinctive 6 × 6 mm square cross-section, the pastels can be held in multiple ways to achieve a wide range of effects. Using the flat edge allows you to create broad, richly saturated areas of colour and easily control intensity – the greater the pressure, the deeper and more vibrant the shade. Holding the stick upright or at a slight angle enables fine, precise lines, perfect for details and contours.
The range includes 84 colours, 14 of which have been specially developed for sketching and academic drawing. The pastels contain a high concentration of lightfast pigment and are free from wax and oil, ensuring a natural matte finish and excellent adhesion to paper.
Their velvety effect is evident both during application and in the final result. Colours can be gently blended, layered, and combined to create smooth transitions and subtle tonal gradations. To preserve the vibrancy of the work over time, the use of a small amount of fixative is recommended.
