The Prefounte fountain pen by Platinum Japan 1919 is a modern model designed for adult beginners seeking a combination of style, simplicity, and reliability.

The barrel and cap are made of durable PC resin, the grip section is made of PMMA, and internal components such as the feed (ABS) and inner cap (PP) ensure long-lasting durability and proper ink flow. The clip is made of spring steel with chrome plating, adding both strength and elegance.

The pen features a stainless steel nib that provides smooth and comfortable writing for everyday use as well as longer writing sessions. Measuring 138 mm in length with a maximum diameter of 13 mm, the pen fits comfortably in the hand. Its lightweight design – 10.6 g (13 g including the cartridge) – makes it exceptionally easy to handle.

A key feature is the innovative cap with the “Slip & Seal” mechanism, which effectively prevents the ink from drying out even when the pen is left unused for extended periods. Additionally, the redesigned nib and feed system ensures optimal ink flow, resulting in even smoother and more reliable writing.
