Winsor & Newton Watercolour Ground prepares a wide variety of surfaces for watercolor painting, giving them the absorbency and working properties of traditional watercolor paper.

It can be applied to primed canvas, wood, glass, and many other smooth surfaces. The ground provides excellent absorbency, vibrant color retention, and even drying, allowing watercolors to perform naturally while producing beautiful washes and smooth tonal transitions.

For best results, apply two coats with a brush, allowing each coat to dry completely before beginning to paint with watercolors.
