Lefranc & Bourgeois Base Coat Varnish is a high-quality varnish for protecting the surface and gilded surfaces.
The varnish protects the painted substrate and is essential for the initial application before gilding. It can be used as a base varnish to isolate the substrate from the gilding ink and achieve a brighter effect or reduce the porosity of the substrate. It can also be used as a paint to uniformly protect everyday objects from chemicals (detergents) or abrasion.
The varnish does not increase the initial brilliance of gilding. Water-based product, do not dilute. The surface painted with varnish can be washed with water.
