Soft Pastels by Conté à Paris are high-quality artistic tools designed for working with colour, light, and texture. Thanks to their high pigment concentration and minimal binder content, they provide rich, vibrant colours and a characteristic velvety finish on paper.
Their soft texture allows for easy layering, blending, and smooth colour transitions. They enable artists to create subtle tonal gradations, soft shadows, and depth within a composition. Depending on how the pastel is held, you can achieve delicate, transparent colour areas or more intense, saturated passages by building successive layers.
Soft Pastels perfectly complement other Conté à Paris products—especially the slightly harder Carrés pastels. While Carrés are ideal for sketching and structure, Soft Pastels are excellent for developing the artwork further by adding colour, texture, and detail.
The best results are achieved on medium- or coarse-grain papers that hold pigment well. To preserve the artwork and maintain colour intensity, the use of a fixative is recommended.
