Varnish, spray fixative for watercolor paintings by Schmincke.
The ultimate fixative for protecting watercolor paintings from moisture and dust on an alcohol basis. It is colorless, resistant to aging, does not yellow, and dries quickly.
Shake well before use. Spray at room temperature, moving the can from left to right and from top to bottom of the painting, holding at a distance of 30 - 40 cm from a vertically positioned or slightly tilted and completely dry painting. The degree of gloss depends on the absorbency of the substrate, painting technique and paint thickness.
The subsequent fixation of the surface of the image made with materials poor in binders, such as watercolors or gouaches, can cause a significant darkening of the color shade. Using too much fixative often results in a loss of "lightness". The product can also make the medium, such as paper, more transparent.
Varnish is usually used as a fixative coating, it does not provide any special UV protection to the inks used. For this reason, we recommend that you use high-quality and light-resistant artists' inks right from the start.
Clogged spray heads are best cleaned with acetone. Store in a cool and dry place. Protect from sunlight and do not expose to temperatures exceeding 50°C.
