The intense brown of the Carob of Cyprus ink is splattered with flame-like color reflections to give shine to its various writings. Carob is grown in many countries, including Cyprus, where it was formerly called "black gold" as, according to legend, its therapeutic virtues allowed people consuming it to reach a very old age.

The inks are free from artificial pigments and safe for use with fountain pens. They are also non-toxic and have a neutral pH. They are water-based, they write very smoothly and dry quickly. The bottle has a convenient, wide neck allowing for quick and convenient filling of the pen and preventing the ink from escaping outside the packaging.

All natural J. Herbin inks and their glass bottles are hand-made in Paris.
