Liquitex Natural Sand Effect Medium for Acrylic Paints.

This thick acrylic gel allows you to create a flexible, sandy texture.

The natural sand particles give the painting an amazing, rough, three-dimensional texture. Medium dries to a glossy finish characteristic of "beach sand". Provides high flexibility and adhesion for acrylic paints, maintaining archival quality. When dry, it will not chip or crack on the canvas. The medium gives a translucent effect - the thicker the layer, the more opaque it is.

The medium can be used alone, as a primer, mixed with paint or applied after the painting has dried. When mixed with acrylic paint, it thickens its consistency. Medium also makes an excellent textured primer or underpainting for acrylics, pastels, charcoal and graphite.

When using medium as a primer, apply a thin layer of it over the canvas and let it dry completely - this will give you a fine texture. Apply a thick layer for 3D effects. Mix it with Gloss Medium to get a textured, shiny surface. Once the medium is dry, paint the surface with any acrylic paint. Apply the medium with a spatula or brush. If desired, you can dilute it with a small amount of distilled water.
